Enerkraft was awarded an Electrical Transmission and Distribution (T&D) contract in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana, a Government of India initiative with a US$5.9 billion outlay to advance rural electrification, highlighting its capability to execute complex infrastructure projects in challenging terrains.
Impact
- Widespread electrification across hilly border regions connected over 30,000 previously unelectrified rural households, significantly reducing energy gaps.
- The project enabled the segregation of agricultural and non-agricultural feeders, strengthening power distribution systems and ensuring a more reliable daily electricity supply of 16 - 20 hours.
- Improved power availability drove economic and social development in border areas by enhancing digital connectivity, expanding children’s access to education, and improving security through better street lighting.
